InMe

An alt-metal band sometimes lumped in with the nu-metal crowd, Essex, England's InMe started out life as Drowned upon their formation in 1996. Finding out that an American Christian band had already taken that moniker, the shift was soon made to InMe, just in time to score a deal with label MFN in 2001. Eventually the band released its debut -- Overgrown Eden -- in 2003, which was bolstered by a series of moderate hit singles. Although InMe were riding a fairly sizable wave of popularity, they were dealt an irritating blow in 2004 when their label fell apart. Luckily for InMe, V2 was there, not only to sign them, but also to offer them a deal that allowed them space for their own label, Pandora's Box Records. A sophomore full-length was quickly issued in 2005. Entitled White Butterfly, it hit stores in two forms: one standard and another with a pair of bonus tracks. The following year saw the release of a live CD and DVD, both entitled Caught: White Butterfly. Although a few roster changes plagued the band, InMe soldiered on, and in 2007 released their third album, Daydream Anonymous. The rest of that year -- and 2008 -- would be spent recording new tracks, which eventually saw daylight as album number four, Herald Moth, released last year. The band now continuing to grow again are set to make big moves in 2010.

Also playing will be Conquer the Masses, Cadences, Halt Under Heavy Fire, This Months Confession + more tbc

Iglu and Hartley

Iglu & Hartly are an American pop rock band from Los Angeles, CA. The band is composed of Jarvis Anderson (vocals, keys, production), Sam Martin (vocals, keys), Simon Katz (guitar), Luis Rosiles (drums), and Michael Bucher (bass).

History
Formation

Jarvis Anderson, Sam Martin, and Simon Katz met at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Colorado (USA) Before long, the 3 of them quit school and moved to Echo Park, California to pursue a career in music. Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, Luis Rosiles flew from Jarvis' hometown of Chicago to join the band as their drummer, and LA local Michael Bucher joined as bassist.
Signing to Mercury Records (2008)

After two years of playing in Southern California clubs, the band started receiving strong interest from a number of major record labels in the UK, as well as getting airplay from Jim Gellatly on Xfm Scotland. The band finally decided to sign with Mercury Records, but not before releasing their debut UK single "Violent & Young" on indie label Another Music = Another Kitchen on 2 June 2008 to critical acclaim.
The band's next single "In This City" was released in September and was identified as "an anthem in the making" by an NME blogger. This kicked a massive tour, seeing the band play over 120 shows in a span of 150 days in 17 countries. The band also performed on an episode of Friday Night With Jonathan Ross on BBC1 in the UK, helping "In This City" rise to number five in the UK charts, securing the band their first hit. An instrumental version of the song was also used as the theme tune for the Match Of The Day Goal of the Month competitions. NME featured the Band in over 15 different pieces prior to and after their controversial review of the album, including inviting the band to headline two dates on their NME Awards Tour. They also named them one of the "Twenty Bands Making America Cool Again." In regards to other press outlets the album and the band were a polarizing force, generating both glowing reviews and venomous criticism.

Support on this show comes from Politics, The Circus Electric, Skinless Finger and Secret Moves + more in room 2

Red Stripe Music Award 2010 - Sign Up Now!!!

Red Stripe Music Award 2010 – Sign Up Now!

Storming into its fourth year, the Red Stripe Music Award 2010, supported by Last FM, is hitting the streets of Manchester once more, to give you the chance to share what you’ve got with the rest of the country.
A showcase has been confirmed at Moho in Manchester on Wednesday 17th February. Last year, acoustic funk act Gideon Conn made it onto the shortlist and played at the final held at the HMV Forum in London where Gomez headlined.
Gigs will take place around the country from January to April, across 30 of the country’s best live music venues – with even more partners and music industry muscle on board for 2010.

Bands and artists are invited to enter details via www.redstripe.net and if selected will play for the chance to win spots at some of the UK’s best loved festivals, including The Great Escape.
Fender equipment and Merc clothing will also be up for grabs as well as hours of free consultancy with Arising Artist, a group of music industry professionals who advise on A&R, Promotion, Publicity, Marketing, Management and general business management.
Paul Brazier heads up the Red Stripe team and is keen to give something back to fans of the Jamaican lager beer; “The Red Stripe Music Award is about providing emerging artists with an appropriate platform to be heard, so somewhere like Moho is ideal.”
Extra support in the way of Last FM and The Fly magazine will see emerging talent exposed to music lovers across the country, so get involved and sign up now!

Open to bands playing any manner of music, utterly unbiased to trend or leaning, Red Stripe asks only that applicants are over 18 years old and perform original tracks with the heart and soul they deserve.

Check out www.redstripe.net for more about venues and dates and see what last year’s winner, Ben Howard, has been up to on http://www.muzu.tv/redstripe/ben-howard-talks-rsma-ben-howard-music-video/501651/hq
